Northern Front Range Tour

Length: 7 Days, 8 Nights

Level: Challenging

Distance:  288 to 475 miles

Elevation: +31176 feet / -28650 feet

Northwestern Colorado has exceptional wildlife habitats, hot springs, a pristine national park, diverse landscapes and the roads are less traveled than some of the other areas in Colorado, providing open roads for bicycles.   This route will start from historic Golden and travel to the Fraser Valley, home of the moguls of Winter Park/Mary Jane.  The route will continue to Grand Lake, known as the “Western Gateway” to the Rocky Mountain National Park.   The charming lakeside setting of Grand Lake makes folks feel at home. Enjoy the quaint cabins and summer homes that line the shores of the state’s largest natural lake, stroll down the historic boardwalk.   Day 3 will circumvent the Rocky Mountain National Park and head towards Walden, CO.  The area is home to several ghost mining towns including Tellar City, Pearl and Coalmont, and is also known as the Moose Capital of Colorado.   Walden is that start of the Cache la Poudre-North Park Scenic Byway heading towards Fort Collins.   Following the wild and scenic Poudre River, the terrain will alternate between the tumultuous chaos of the canyon and the serenity of open pastures and alpine meadows.  Fort Collins is one of the many college towns in Colorado hosting Colorado State University and is also has the reputation of being one of Colorado’s top craft-brewery hubs.  From Fort Collins we will travel to the Estes Park, the East Gateway to the National Park.  The final day will take us along the Peak to Peak Highway to Boulder, home to many professional cyclists.
